- I know of very few people whose lives have not been touched by the pain
- of divorce. The deep emotional consequences not only affect the two
- principals in the action, but family, friends, and even more distant members
- of the community. There are some experts that say that the rate of divorce
- may rise to as many as 1 for every 2 marriages, as the pressures of a changing
- society rip at marital ties. Though most of these divorces occur in people
- under 35, the number is on the rise for those who have already passed that
- mark. The booklet "Coping with Separation and Divorce" is available without
- charge by sending a stamped self-addressed business sized envelope to the
- National Mental Health Association, 1021 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA
- 22314-2971. Older folks might be particularly interested in the booklet
- offered by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) whose booklet
- "Divorce after 50" can be obtained by sending your request to AARP, 601 E
- Street, #B5212, Washington, DC 20049. Both these booklets contain suggestions
- of help to all.
